IPRPA x Customs YES - Coffee Grounds Tie-dye Workshop

Date: 06/07/2026

On 6 July 2026, members of the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Alliance (IPRPA), in collaboration with Customs YES, organized an eco-friendly Coffee Grounds Tie-Dye Workshop for primary school students at Yaumati Kaifong Association School. The initiative underscored IPRPA’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and youth development, extending its engagement beyond intellectual property protection and regulatory compliance into meaningful community education and environmental stewardship.

The event, themed “Low-Carbon · Cherish Food”, illustrated how small adjustments in daily habits can contribute meaningfully to environmental protection. Participants attended an in-depth lecture on Hong Kong’s food waste management strategies and environmental policies, complemented by practical guidance on reducing food waste and adopting a sustainable, low-carbon lifestyle.

The workshop also included a hands-on coffee grounds tie-dye session. Using recycled coffee grounds, students and participants learned to transform discarded materials into unique tie-dye artworks. This interactive activity effectively demonstrated the principles of upcycling and “turning waste into treasure”, generating considerable enthusiasm among all involved.

The joint initiative successfully raised environmental awareness among both the younger generation and adults, inspiring participants to minimise food waste at source. The event exemplified IPRPA’s proactive approach to community service and its dedication to fostering positive social impact through creative, educational programmes.
